Read MoreA Linton man was arrested over the weekend after police say he was intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
According to court documents, Shawn M. Hauck, 50, faces preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle while suspended prior conviction.
The arrest stems from an April 19 traffic stop conducted by Linton Police Department Patrolman Jerrad Pirtle. According to the affidavit, Pirtle observed a black pickup truck traveling on State Road 59 with its high beams activated and failing to dim them for oncoming traffic.
After initiating a traffic stop, Pirtle made contact with the driver, identified as Hauck, and reported detecting the odor of alcohol and observing slurred speech. A female passenger was also in the vehicle.
Authorities determined Hauck’s driver’s license was suspended. According to the affidavit, Hauck admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving.
Field sobriety testing indicated signs of impairment, and Hauck declined a portable breath test at the scene. Officers later obtained a search warrant for a blood draw, which was conducted at Greene County General Hospital.
During an inventory of the vehicle, officers reported locating multiple alcoholic beverage containers, including unopened cans and empty beer cans inside the truck.
Hauck was transported to the Greene County Jail without incident. His bond was set at $5,000 surety with 10% cash allowed, and he was released after posting $500.
Hauck is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on April 27.
