Linton woman arrested after hospital disturbance, 911 misuse
/A Linton woman was arrested April 12 after police say she was intoxicated, refused to leave a hospital and called 911 without an emergency.
According to court documents, Haley L. Maine, 23, of Linton, faces preliminary charges of criminal trespass, misuse of 911, and public intoxication.
Officer Chandler Willard of the Greene County General Hospital Police Department reported he was monitoring the emergency department waiting room around 9:24 p.m. when Maine attempted to enter the hospital as a visitor.
According to the affidavit, Maine made rude remarks to staff and appeared visibly intoxicated. She was denied entry and asked to leave the property. A person accompanying her told officers she had been drinking throughout the day and was “blackout drunk.”
Shortly after being removed, Maine was observed on surveillance cameras attempting to re-enter the emergency department waiting room, according to the report.
Officers again denied her entry and instructed her to leave hospital property, warning she would be arrested if she refused. Police said Maine smelled strongly of alcohol, had slurred speech, and was unsteady on her feet.
Authorities reported Maine became argumentative and refused to leave. She then used her cell phone to call 911 despite being told she would be arrested for misuse of the emergency system if no emergency existed.
Officers again ordered Maine to leave before placing her under arrest for trespass.
According to the affidavit, Maine’s actions disrupted the hospital environment, where patients and visitors were coming and going.
She was transported to the Greene County Jail without incident. Her bond was set at $2,500 surety with 10% cash allowed.
Maine is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on April 20.
