Early voting now underway

Early voting for the 2026 primary election is underway in Greene County, offering residents multiple opportunities to cast their ballots ahead of Election Day.

According to the Greene County Voter Registration Office, early voting will take place Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., through noon on May 4.

Voting will be held at the Greene County Courthouse, second floor, Room 225.

Additional Saturday voting dates have also been scheduled:

  • Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Voter Registration Office and Center Township Fire Department

  • Saturday, May 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Voter Registration Office and Roy Clark Building

Election Day is set for Tuesday, May 5, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of early voting opportunities to avoid long lines and ensure their participation in the primary election.

A legal notice, published March 16, outlines all candidates listed on the ballot.

Early voting began on April 7, and on April 11, Alan D. Moody, Greene County County Council Dist. 3 candidate died. According to Greene County Clerk Jamie Thompson, Moody’s name will remain on the ballot because ballots have already been printed and voting machines programmed.

If Moody were to receive the most votes in the primary, a candidate vacancy would be declared. In that case, the county party chairman would appoint a replacement nominee for the general election. The replacement could be the opposing candidate or another individual selected by the party.
