Marion W. "Junior" Blanton, Jr.
/Marion W. "Junior" Blanton, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully at his home in rural Worthington on Memorial Day, Monday morning, May 25, 2026, surrounded by the family he cherished so deeply.
Born September 5, 1932, in rural Jasonville to Marion and Elsie (Terhune) Blanton, Junior spent his entire life rooted in the land and community he loved. A 1950 graduate of Switz City High School, he carried the lessons of hard work and perseverance with him into a lifelong career as a self-employed farmer. Farming was never just an occupation to Junior - it was his passion, his pride, and the rhythm of his life.
Those who knew Junior knew he was happiest outdoors, whether working the fields, watching crops grow, or simply taking a ride in his side-by-side with friends. He found joy in the simple things - good company, open land, and the quiet satisfaction of a day's work.
His faith was a cornerstone of his life. As a devoted member of Lincoln Christian Church, Junior faithfully attended Sunday School and served his church family as both a Deacon and an Elder. His steady presence, kind spirit, and servant's heart left a lasting impact on all who worshiped alongside him.
Above all, Junior was a family man. He shared 71 years of marriage with the love of his life, Marcella, building a home filled with love, laughter, and strong values. Together, they raised a family that continues to carry on his legacy.
He is survived by his children, Terry Blanton (Mary), Norman Blanton, Sandi White (Doug), and Lavon Blanton (Tracy); grandchildren, Candi Blanton, Brian Blanton (Jennifer), Kristen Saladin (Mike), Lora Fox, Beth Gianos, and Cloe Gianos; ten great-grandchildren who brought him great pride and joy; and his sister, Phyllis Flynn.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcella M. (Flynn) Blanton; his parents; and his sister, Reba Maners.
A funeral service to celebrate Junior's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington, with Cliff Gano officiating. He will be laid to rest at Walker Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
In honor of Junior's faith and lifelong commitment to his church, memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Christian Church through the funeral home.

Junior will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep roots in family and faith, and the way he lived a life grounded in hard work and love. His legacy will continue in the fields he tended, the family he raised, and the community he helped shape.
