The Greene County Health Department has received inquiries regarding bed bugs and have decided to share information regarding the bugs with the public.

Early voting opened Oct. 8 in Greene County with opportunities to cast an early vote until Nov. 4 for the Nov. 5 General Election.

The Linton Water Department will being flushing hydrants on Sunday, Oct. 27 and will continue until Thursday, Oct. 31. The process will take place from 8 p.m. each night and will continue until 6 a.m. each following morning.

A Farmersburg woman was arrested on a warrant for forgery Oct. 24 after allegedly submitting forged doctor’s notes for her children.

A Vincennes man was arrested Oct. 25 on a handful of charges including drug-related and gun-related charges following a complaint that he had been trespassing on property near the White River. 

Fall installments of property taxes are due Nov. 12 and the Greene County Treasurer’s Office is offering several ways for taxpayers to take care of their payments.

 A 35-year-old Lyons man is behind bars on several charges—including two counts of murder—in an investigation involving the death of his ex-wife and her son. 

A 35-year-old Lyons man is behind bars on several charges—including murder—in an investigation involving the death of his ex-wife and son. Joshua Alan Penick was arrested Oct. 17 by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy David Elmore. According to a probable cause filed Oct. 18 in Greene Circuit Court, he is being charged with two Level 1 Felony counts of murder for the deaths of his ex-wife, Samantha Jerrell, and her 14-year-old son. He’s also being charged with four counts of obstruction of justice, battery against a public safety official, false informing, and resisting law enforcement. He’s being held without bond.  This story will be updated. 

Update: Greene County Sheriff George Dallaire has released a statement confirming two deceased persons have been found; however, no other information is available at this time. Whether or not this new information is linked to the disapperance of Lyons woman Samantha Jerrell and her son, Colton, has not been determined at this time. Police are investigating the disappearance of a Lyons woman and her son, who have been missing since Oct. 13.  Samantha Jerrell and her son, Colton, were reportedly headed to French Lick but never arrived. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation but has not released an official statement at this time; however, police presence related to the investigation has been reported near Bear Run Mine in Sullivan County.

According to a news release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, rape and child molesting charges have been filed against a 43-year-old man following a Sept. 23 report of a missing juvenile.
