Worthington Halloween Bash scheduled for Oct. 26

Hundreds of people are expected to attend this year’s Worthington Halloween Bash Oct. 26 in the Worthington Park to take part in a costume contest, games, and more.

The Worthington Halloween Bash offers free admission and is open to the public.

At 4:30 p.m., a witches ride begins at the White River Valley Elementary School.

“That is when a group of people dress up as witches then ride bicycles, side by sides, golf carts, etcetera, from the WRV Elementary to the Halloween Bash. The firetruck leads them,” said Kelly Reel, of Worthington Lions Club Vice-President and the Worthington Halloween Bash planning committee. “This year we also invited any costumed person to ride with them, too.”

From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., various games and activities will be available for event-goers, such as: poke-a-pumpkin, kick darts, ring toss, duck pond, plinko, donut contest, cake walk, monster making, and witches lair photo ops.

S’mores will also be available, according to Reel.

“Firing up the fireplace, sweet treats await attendees, and maybe a Halloween story or two. And for those with extra flair and creativity, face and pumpkin painting will be available,” Reel said.

Also from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., children can participate in trunk or treating in the park.

A costume contest will be held at 5:15 p.m. at the bandstand in the Worthington Town Park. Costume contests will be held for four age groups—0-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Prizes will be awarded in five categories per age group: cutest, most creative, scariest, funniest, and best overall.
