Fall installments of property taxes due Nov. 12

Fall installments of property taxes are due Nov. 12 and the Greene County Treasurer’s Office is offering several ways for taxpayers to take care of their payments.

According to Greene County Treasurer Sam Mahan, payments can be made in the Treasurer’s Office, which is located on the first floor of the Greene County Courthouse. There is also a dropbox located at the entrance to the courthouse. The drop box will be checked at 4 p.m. on Nov. 12 and anything in the box after that time will be considered late.

Payments, with payment coupon, can be mailed to: Greene County Treasurer, 1 E Main Street Room 130, Bloomfield IN, 47424. Postmarks on or before Nov. 12 will be considered on time; however, according to Mahan, post marks after Nov. 12 will be considered late.

Online and automated phone payments are also an option for taxpayers. Payments can be made online by visiting co.greene.in.us, while automated phone payments can be made by calling 812-648-9166. Mahan said the website and phone options will end at midnight on Nov. 12 and will be unavailable for the next two weeks.

Payments, with payment coupon, will be accepted at Owen County State Bank in Linton and Bloomfield; First Financial Bank in Worthington; and Farmers and Mechanics in Bloomfield, Bloomington, and Eastern. Payments will be accepted at these locations until the close of business on Nov. 12.
