Joshua Alan Penick was arrested Oct. 17 by Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy David Elmore. According to a probable cause filed Oct. 18 in Greene Circuit Court, he is being charged with two Level 1 Felony counts of murder for the deaths of his ex-wife, Samantha Jerrell, and her 14-year-old son. He’s also being charged with four counts of obstruction of justice, battery against a public safety official, false informing, and resisting law enforcement. He’s being held without bond. This story will be updated.

Today, the community bids farewell to a remarkable man whose life was a harmonious blend of music, entrepreneurship, and unwavering dedication to his family and those around him. Robert Lee Burris, affectionately known as Bob, the beloved patriarch of The Burris Family and pillar of the local business community, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, at the age of 86.
