Linton man arrested on 13 charges of child molestation

A 41-year-old Linton man is facing seven Level 1 Felony charges of child molesting and six Level 4 child molesting—fondling charges following a Sept. 21 arrest.

Kieth Klaiber was arrested by Linton Police Department (LPD) Det. Logan Hobbs and was transported to Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $240,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.

He faces seven counts of Level 1 Felony child molesting where the defendant is at least 21 years of age and six Level 4 Felony counts of child molesting—or touching with a child under 14.

On Sept. 21, the LPD received a report of possible child molestation. LPD Officer Janzen Franklin responded to the scene at approximately 3:15 p.m. and made contact with a witness, according to a probable cause affidavit written by Hobbs. Klaiber was not at the scene when Franklin arrived.

The two victims were taken to Susie’s Place in Bloomington for an interview where they reported the events in detail. According to the probable cause, Victim 1 reported oral sex and sexual groping to have occurred in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Victim 1 reported the most recent incident happened on Sept. 21. Victim 2 reported oral sex, digital penetration, and sexual groping in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

When Hobbs attempted to interview Klaiber, according to the probable cause affidavit, he declined stating he did not “want to say anything stupid”.

Klaiber is being held in Greene County Jail. His bond is set at $240,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
