A summons to appear in court has been issued to the Taylor Township Trustee after she allegedly battered a firefighter as she was acting in the role of captain of a volunteer fire department at the scene of a car accident on Oct. 5. 

The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for the 85th Recruit Academy for traditional and lateral applicants.

Beginning Sunday, October 15, 2023, the Linton Water Department will be flushing fire hydrants. It is anticipated that the flushing process will require 4 nights to complete. The flushing will begin nightly at 8 PM and will last through 6 AM the following mornings. Therefore, all flushing activities should be complete by 6 AM on Thursday, October 19, 2023. During the process, customers may notice a discoloration of the water. It is recommended that clothes washing be kept to a minimum during this time as discolored water has been known to cause stains in white or light-colored clothing. Failing to pay more than $20,000 in court-ordered child support resulted in the Oct. 9 arrest of a 30-year-old Newberry man. 

A 9-year-old pedestrian was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of State Road 54 and Main Street at approximately 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning in Linton.

Disregarding a stop sign and speeding up as to avoid an officer triggered a traffic stop for a 42-year-old Jasonville man which later resulted in his Oct. 1 arrest on multiple charges including dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and theft of a firearm. 

It’s that time of year again for drivers to be aware of deer darting into and crossing the roadways.  The Putnamville State Police Post would like to pass along a few safety tips to help you avoid a possible collision with a deer this year.  

A traffic stop for speeding on Sept. 8 resulted in a summons to appear in Greene Superior Court on an operating a vehicle while intoxicated charge for a 22-year-old Bloomfield man. 

Leaving the scene of an accident after crashing into a utility pole resulted in the Sept. 21 arrest of a 47-year-old Linton man. 

The Indiana State Police is accepting applications for Motor Carrier Inspectors (MCI). The MCI positions will staff permanent scale facilities in Fort Wayne, Lowell, Richmond, Seymour, Terre Haute, and West Harrison. Inspectors enforce state and federal regulations for commercial motor vehicles operating within the State of Indiana.

A summons to appear in Greene Superior Court was issued for a 38-year-old Linton man after he allegedly swapped his shoes out for a pair of new ones, leaving the store without paying for the new shoes. 

While on routine patrol in the early morning hours of Sept. 28, a Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy located a one-vehicle accident where the vehicle had crashed into the side of a residence. 

When officers responded to a 9-1-1 call in response to a possible medical emergency at a County Road 1175 West residence in Linton on Sept. 21, a 45-year-old Worthington woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe.

A summons to appear in Greene Superior Court has been issued for a 32-year-old Linton woman following a Sept. 2 incident at Linton Wal-Mart when she allegedly left the store without paying for items. 

When officers responded to the report of a vehicle in a ditch on County Road 900 North, west of Fry Street in Jasonville on Sept. 17, they did not find the vehicle there; rather they located the vehicle and the intersection of County Roads 900 North and 1500 West where the driver was later arrested on several alcohol-related charges as well as a charge of possession of marijuana.
