Newberry man arrested for failing to pay child support
/Failing to pay more than $20,000 in court-ordered child support resulted in the Oct. 9 arrest of a 30-year-old Newberry man.
Keaton John Haywood was arrested on a warrant, which was issued on Oct. 5, for non-support of a dependent child.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene Superior Court, Haywood has failed to provide court-ordered child support from April 1, 2022, to Aug. 31, 2023, for $19,216.11.
On April 1, 2022, Haywood was court-ordered to pay $152 weekly child support. On July 1, 2022, that amount was changed to $225, according to the probable cause affidavit.
On Nov. 29, 2022, a payment of $93.86 was made through an income withholding order. Another payment was made on May 6, 2023, when a tax payment of $20.52 was intercepted by the state.
His bond was set at $19,216.11 and he was later released after posting $1,921.61.
Haywood is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on Oct. 23.
