Reva Pauline Wells Thatcher, 93, of Worthington, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on February 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 27, 1931, near Arney in Owen County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Dennis "Jake" and Ona (White) Wells. Pauline, as she was affectionately known, was a hardworking and dedicated woman who, alongside her husband Fletcher Thatcher Jr., owned and operated Thatcher Feed and Grain in Worthington for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Fletcher (Junior), and her sister, Ledona J. Wells Leffel. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children: Connie Thatcher of Worthington, Larry (Mona) Thatcher of Coal City and Tracy (Rich) Tarr of Bloomfield. Pauline was also a devoted grandmother to Darin (Tricia) Hostetter, Jacob “Jake” (Amanda) Thatcher, Zack (Jessica) Tarr, Libby Tarr, and Shelley Tarr. She ensured that her children and grandchildren always felt supported, whether through a warm hug, a knowing look, or her steady presence. Her pride in her grandchildren was evident in the way she saved newspaper clippings of their accomplishments, especially their sporting events.
She was a passionate Indiana Hoosiers and Pacers fan, often coaching the players from the comfort of her living room. Pauline found joy in the simple pleasures of life, gardening, tending to her beautiful flower beds, and maintaining her home with care. She was a master of home-cooked meals, never failing to make Sunday dinners special with homemade desserts. In her good health, she could often be found outside, mowing the lawn or planting flowers. Pauline enriched the lives of those around her and left behind a family who will forever be grateful for the love, guidance, and warmth she provided.
The family would like to thank her caregivers; Annie, Linda, Marinda, Sue, and Logan.
Public visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2025 from 1:00 p.m untl 2:00 p.m. at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, 23 S. Jefferson Street, Worthington, Indiana 47471.
