Details released in car/pedestrian accident in Linton

A 9-year-old pedestrian was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of State Road 54 and Main Street at approximately 7:15 a.m. Wednesday morning in Linton.

The child has been identified through social media posts from family members as Christian Glover. According to a press release from the Linton Police Department, he was walking to his bus stop when he was struck by a Chevrolet Equinox driven by Matthew McDonald, 38, Linton. McDonald, who was traveling south on Main Street, indicated he was stopped for the traffic light at the intersection and when the light turned, he made a left turn onto State Road 54 and struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk. McDonald alleged he did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk, nor did he see him while waiting for the light to change.

Glover was transported to Greene County General Hospital and was later airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.

Per the press release, the Linton Police Department would like to urge drivers to spend an extra moment focusing on safe driving, especially as it relates to observing for and yielding to pedestrian traffic and designated right-of-ways.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linton Police Department.
