Worthington woman arrested on drug-related charges
/When officers responded to a 9-1-1 call in response to a possible medical emergency at a County Road 1175 West residence in Linton on Sept. 21, a 45-year-old Worthington woman was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe.
Upon arrival at the scene, Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Devan Goad knocked on the door several times with no response. According to the probable cause affidavit, he could hear a female – later identified as Stephanie M. Holcomb – inside the residence. Eventually, Holcomb answered the door; however, her speech wasn’t good and she was moving all around. Goad wrote in the probable cause affidavit that per his experience and training, he believed Holcomb to be under the influence of a narcotic drug. When asked if she’d used methamphetamine, Holcomb alleged she’d used it two days prior.
When asked if anyone else was in the residence with her, Holcomb replied no, but stated the door was unlocked when she arrived. Linton Police Department Officer JR Blazier offered to walk through the residence to ensure no one else was inside to which Holcomb agreed.
While inside the residence, Blazier and Linton Police Department Officer Nathanel Kilgore searched the residence. While inside, Blazier located – in plain sight – a gray mirror with a white powder residue, two cotton-tipped swabs, a rusty razorblade, and an orange-capped syringe containing a small amount of liquid. The mirror and the contents of the syringe were tested and both field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Holcomb was transported to Greene County Jail after being medically cleared. She was held without bond.
She appeared in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing on Sept. 25 when her bond was set at $10,000 surety with 10% cash allowed.
