Summons issued for Linton woman after taking items without paying

A summons to appear in Greene Superior Court has been issued for a 32-year-old Linton woman following a Sept. 2 incident at Linton Wal-Mart when she allegedly left the store without paying for items.

Jenna Lynn Miller has been issued a summons to appear in Greene Superior Court on Oct. 23. The summons was issued on Sept. 21.

Miller is being charged with theft, a Class A Misdemeanor, following an incident that occurred Sept. 2 at Linton Wal-Mart. While working another incident at Linton Wal-Mart on Sept. 8, an Asset Protection Associate provided Linton Police Department Officer Nathanael Kilgore with a folder of information. The information pertained to Sept. 2 when Miller was stopped by an employee for theft. The Asset Protection Employee told Kilgore he observed Miller leave the store without any bagged items. According to the probable cause affidavit, he told Kilgore he reviewed video footage that showed Miller missed scanning $21.70 worth of items. Items included: body wash, chicken fried steaks, yogurt, and gummy bears.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Kilgore watched the video footage himself and saw Miller check out and fail to scan the items mentioned above.

On Sept. 14, Kilgore went to Miller’s residence to speak with her about the items she didn’t pay for. Miller alleged she hadn’t been to the store for a while and didn’t remember going on Sept. 2. She told Kilgore she didn’t realize she missed scanning the items and could pay for them. Kilgore spoke with the Asset Protection Associate who advised he would not allow her to pay for the items. He also informed Kilgore he had a no trespass form he wanted served to her.

Kilgore returned to Miller’s residence to let her know the store would not allow her to pay for the items at this time. He also presented her with the no trespass order, which she signed. He made her aware, according to the probable cause affidavit, that she was no longer allowed in Wal-Mart and would be arrested if she was on the property.
