UPDATE: First Christian Church, 80 South Jefferson, Bloomfield, Indiana will have a cooling center in
their Fellowship Hall Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 Noon to 6:00 p.m……….A cooling center will be open at the north shelter house in the Bloomfield park on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 14 and June 15, from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, according to Roger Axe, the director of Greene County Emergency Management Agency. Axe says other locations are needed to serve as cooling centers this week.

Reminder, Starts Today: State Road 67 closure planned in Greene County for seal coat operations in June

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a road closure on State Road 67 just north of Switz City. Beginning on or around June 13, State Road 67 will be closed to allow for seal coat operations. This closure will take place beginning at the intersection of SR 67 and SR 54. Crews will perform seal coat operations north on SR 67 to the US 231 intersection. Seal coat work is expected to be completed by the end of June, depending on weather conditions. The official detour for motorists is State Road 54 to US 231.

LPD to test sirens in Linton and Lyons at 1 p.m. today

The Linton Police Department will be testing the Emergency Tornado Warning System at 1:00 p.m. today, Monday, June 13. This will test the sirens in the City of Linton and also in the Town of Lyons. Early Monday, LPD Chief Paul Clark said the forecast showed no chance of precipitation but if that forecast changes, they will postpone the test. They will not test when there is a chance of bad weather.

Two passengers in a car traveling on I-69 got into a physical altercation when one man threw a burrito in the other man's face. When they stopped at a gas station in Greene County, he hit him over the head with a vodka bottle. GCSD arrested them both.
