The Solsberry man accused of shooting his father last week won’t be getting out of jail for now. Another warrant for his arrest was issued earlier today. At various times, the suspect has interacted with ISP, GCSD, BPD and LPD, and been involved in previous incidents in both Bloomfield and Linton as well as eastern Greene County. In one of those cases, still pending, he was out on bond when the shooting occurred. That bond has been revoked.
A Solsberry man accused of kicking in a door then shooting his father with a shotgun last Tuesday will be in court in the morning to face three felony counts. A witness who was on the scene said the suspect appeared to have been awake for several days, as if high on methamphetamine.
UPDATE at 7:10 p.m. According to ISP Sgt. Michael Wood, the suspect has been taken into custody. Greene County - Today, Tuesday, December 22, at approximately 12:00 p.m., the Greene County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting of a gunshot victim at 13775 North Ivan Court, Solsberry, Indiana, located in rural eastern Greene County. Indiana State Police along with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to the residence and located the victim. The victim was provided immediate medical care and was transported to a local hospital.
An eastern Greene County man is in the Greene County Jail facing seven criminal counts related to a crash in Bloomfield in late April. An officer said he was going 90 before crashing his car into a utility pole in the middle of the night.
A BPD officer estimated the speed of a vehicle at 90 mph shortly before the driver crashed the vehicle into a utility pole in Bloomfield in the middle of the night. The driver was injured, taken to the hospital and may be facing criminal charges.
A 19-year-old eastern Greene County man was all set to get what looked like a pretty good deal on a couple of misdemeanor charges. But during his change of plea hearing on Wednesday, he allegedly showed up in court with numerous controlled substances in his system.

Jerry Lee Newsom, age 81, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 4:15 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Glenburn Home in Linton. He was born in Linton on August 22, 1943, the son of Robert and Geneva (Scott) Newsom.
Janet McCarter, age 89, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 2:24 am on Friday, February 7, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Lake County, IN on December 11, 1935, the daughter of Benham & Josie (Mitten) Williams.
Kenny "Bud" L. Stantz, age 62, of Worthington, passed away peacefully at 8:45 am on Friday, February 7, 2025, at The Waters of Martinsville. He was born in Sullivan, IN on April 9, 1962, the son of Kenneth, Sr. & Linda (Orman) Stantz.
Rosettia Ellis, age 66, of Linton, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at her home. She was born in Burksville, Kentucky on August 29, 1958, the daughter of Peyton and Lora (Booher) Anderson.
Reva Pauline Wells Thatcher, 93, of Worthington, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on February 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 27, 1931, near Arney in Owen County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Dennis "Jake" and Ona (White) Wells. Pauline, as she was affectionately known, was a hardworking and dedicated woman who, alongside her husband Fletcher Thatcher Jr., owned and operated Thatcher Feed and Grain in Worthington for many years.
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our precious son, Houston Dwayne Hinkle who went home to be with Jesus on February 2, at just 10 months old. Though his time on earth was brief, his life was filled with love, courage, and the undeniable presence of God’s grace.
Patricia L. ‘Pat’ Morrison, 76, of Linton, Indiana, went to Heaven, on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at IU Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on October 13, 1948 in Washington, Indiana, to Joseph and Madeline Lola (Whittenmier) Brothers. Pat married her husband, Lester W. Morrison, on February 17, 1968.
Karen L. McCombs, 87, of Linton Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on November 15, 1937 in Linton to John W. and Dorothy Ann (Sharp) West. Karen married Raymond T. McCombs on October 16, 1955.
Carole Lee Brewer, 82, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life, with her daughter by her side, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was born on April 24, 1942 in Linton to Fred E. and Betty E. (Jerrels) Tincher. Carole married the love of her life, Jackie L. Brewer, on June 14, 1957.
