Driver accused of going 90 through Bloomfield before crashing into utility pole

A BPD officer estimated the speed of a vehicle at 90 mph shortly before the driver crashed into a utility pole in Bloomfield in the middle of the night. The driver was injured, taken to the hospital and may be facing criminal charges.

Deputy Marshal Jordan Allor of the Bloomfield Police Department, the investigating officer, reported that he observed a reckless driver traveling at an extremely high rate of speed on Main Street through Bloomfield around 2:40 a.m. Monday, April 29.

Steven A. Taylor II, 20, of eastern Greene County, was identified as the driver.

Officer Allor estimated the speed of Taylor’s vehicle at 90 mph in a 35 mph zone near the intersection of West Main Street and South Seminary Street.

Allor reported Taylor then lost control of his vehicle near the intersection of West Main and John streets, then collided with a utility pole near the intersection of West Main and North Cleveland streets.

Taylor was injured in the crash and requested to be transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

Taylor may be facing criminal charges as a result of this incident. Officer Allor said Taylor is suspected of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless driving and possibly other charges.

Officer Allor was assisted on the scene by personnel from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police and the Greene County Ambulance Service.
