Florence H Clayton, age 89, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully at 2:33 am on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Bell Trace Health and Living Center. She was born on August 16, 1935, the daughter of George & Helena (Bolton) Clayton.

She was a Nun from the age of 15 until the age of 32. After that she went on to become a music teacher at Mitchell High School. She enjoyed playing piano, reading books, had a soft spot for all animals but especially loved her cat Kembo.

Florence is survived by her nieces, Tania (Richard) Glass, Roma (Randy) Sylvester, Julia Sturgis, Jill Clayton and Lora (Brian) Clifton; special great nieces and nephews, Wesley Clifton, Cory Clifton, Phylese Beetz, Kristina Clifton and Lindsey Clifton; great great niece, Elliot Reynolds as well as several other great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Harold "Dutch" Clayton, Sr., James Harv Clayton, Roma Brown, Dexter Clayton and John R. Clayton as well as a nephew, Harold Clayton, Jr.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home on Friday, April 11, 2025. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
