Larry A. Poe

Larry A. Poe, 84, of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Linton, Indiana, passed away, on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Hearthstone Health Campus in Bloomington. He was born on January 9, 1941 in Brookville, Pennsylvania to Joe L. and Anita June (Heaton) Poe. Larry married the love of his life, Mary Arlene (Schmitt) Poe on April 28, 1961.

Larry was a member of the Linton United Methodist Church and lifelong member of Linton BPO Elks #866. He was an Electrical Contractor and began working at Poe Electric in the early 1960’s and worked with his father as a business partner for years. Larry was an avid golfer and loved playing poker with his friends, working outdoors, fishing, watching IU basketball and collecting coins. He especially enjoyed attending his grandkid’s sporting events, spending time with family and traveling.

Family left to cherish the memories of Larry include: three daughters, Lisa Poe Evans of Evansville, Stacy (Tom) Wells, of Linton and Jennifer Poe of Ellettsville; five grandchildren, Kinley Wells, DeLaney Sanders, Chad Evans, Katie (Trent) Wilkes and Hayden Scifres; great-granddaughter, Finn Wilkes and great-grandson, Theo Evans.

Larry was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Arlene Poe; great-grandson, Ryder Wilson; great-granddaughter, Maelyn Kate Wilkes and brother, Phil Poe.

An Elks Memorial Service will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. Funeral services to honor the life of Larry will immediately follow with Pastor Ben Biggs officiating. Larry will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
