Another warrant issued for shooting suspect

The Solsberry man accused of shooting his father last week won’t be getting out of jail for now. Another warrant for his arrest was issued earlier today. At various times, the suspect has interacted with ISP, GCSD, BPD and LPD, and been involved in previous incidents in both Bloomfield and Linton as well as eastern Greene County. In one of those cases, still pending, he was out on bond when the shooting occurred. That bond has been revoked.

Steven Adam Taylor II, 21, Solsberry, is accused of kicking in a door then shooting his father, Steven A. Taylor, with a shotgun last Tuesday. The father survived and was transported to a hospital in Bloomington then transferred to a hospital in Indianapolis.

Following an intense search, Taylor II was taken into custody that night by the Indiana State Police South SWAT Team. ISP Detective Brad Stille, the lead investigator, was the arresting officer.

Taylor II has been charged with: Aggravated battery – assault posed a substantial risk of death, a Level 3 felony; battery resulting in serious bodily injury, a Level 5 felony; and residential entry – breaking and entering a dwelling, a Level 6 felony.

When he was booked into the Greene County Jail, Taylor II’s bond for these charges was set at $29,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed, but Taylor II has other cases pending against him.

Taylor II has been involved in other incidents in eastern Greene County and in both Bloomfield and Linton.

In one of those cases, that has not concluded and is still pending, Taylor was charged with a long list of criminal counts including:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor,

  • Criminal recklessness committed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony,

  • Illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage, a Class C misdemeanor,

  • Leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor,

  • Reckless driving causing property damage, a Class B misdemeanor, and

  • Refusal to identify self, a Class C misdemeanor.

Those charges came about after Taylor II allegedly crashed his car into a utility pole in Bloomfield in the middle of the night in May of 2019. Deputy Jordan Allor, now a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy, was a Deputy Marshal with the Bloomfield Police Department at the time who estimated Taylor II was driving a car at 90 mph in a 35 mph zone on Main Street just prior to the crash.

Taylor II’s bond was set at $10,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. Following his arrest, he posted $1,000 cash and was released from jail. That case has not yet come to a conclusion so Taylor II was out on bond when the shooting occurred.

Earlier today, the prosecution filed a petition in Greene Superior Court to revoke the bond and the court found reason to believe Taylor II had violated a condition of his release.

A warrant for Taylor II’s arrest has been issued. Since he’s already in jail, it will be served to him in jail and he will be held without bond.

In other incidents, Taylor II’s been accused of kicking out a window in a home in eastern Greene County and of showing up for a court hearing under the influence of numerous controlled substances. One time in Linton, after a caller reported a suspicious man who appeared to be intoxicated was yelling obscenities on a Linton street, officers located him near a restaurant and identified the man as Taylor II. Taylor II also has cases pending against him in Monroe County.
