A Linton police detective was arrested Dec. 31 after Indiana State Police say he was driving a marked police vehicle while intoxicated and later recorded a blood alcohol concentration of 0.375, more than four times the legal limit.

On December 28, 2025, at approx. 7:30 PM, a severe weather incident occurred across much of the area. As a result of that storm, Linton Police Department and Linton Fire Department were dispatched to an upstairs apartment of a building on S. Main St. where a family of five was reported to be trapped in an apartment with a collapsed roof. Linton PD and FD personnel responded and almost immediately rescued four of the five family members, including three young children. The fifth person was trapped beneath the debris of the collapse, which had to be removed piece by piece. After removal of that debris, the fifth subject was rescued from the collapse as well. All five were transported to Greene County General Hospital for treatment.
