The Linton Water Department will perform scheduled maintenance on the water system beginning Monday, September 22, at 9:00 p.m. The work is expected to be finished by Tuesday, September 23, at 6:00 a.m. During this time, customers may experience low water pressure or a temporary loss of water service. Because of this maintenance, a Boil Water Advisory will be in effect starting 9:00 p.m. on September 22 and will remain in place until water samples are tested and confirmed safe to drink. The advisory is expected to be lifted by Wednesday, September 24, 2025, but an official cancellation notice will be issued once testing is complete. According to probable cause affidavits filed in Greene Circuit Court, investigators with the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section began looking into William N. Hutcherson, Jr., 60, of Bloomfield, in August 2025 after receiving information that he was selling methamphetamine in the county. A confidential informant working with police allegedly purchased more than 10 grams of meth during each of three controlled buys at Hutcherson’s Tulip Road residence. Video and audio recordings captured Hutcherson discussing drug weights and prices, with detectives noting that two children were present during the third transaction.
On Aug. 26, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Deputy Cole Boatright spotted Hutcherson driving a Jeep Patriot despite his license being suspended with a prior conviction. After stopping him on County Road 1500 West in Greene County, Detective Caleb Garvin reported finding multiple individually packaged bags of meth in Hutcherson’s jeans pockets, additional drugs, unidentified tablets, and cash. Three other men, including Tristan Hutcherson, were in the vehicle. Police said a K-9 search of the vehicle led to another bag of meth that Tristan admitted was his. Tristan was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

Detectives obtained a search warrant for Hutcherson’s Tulip Road home, where they reported finding drug paraphernalia, syringes, marijuana, digital scales, glass smoking devices, four long guns, and a loaded handgun in the detached garage. Police said a review of the seized $5,582 in cash confirmed it included marked bills used in the earlier undercover buys.
During questioning, Hutcherson allegedly admitted to having a marijuana bong at his home and told investigators he only dealt drugs “some weeks.”
Hutcherson has two different cases against him: one for three counts of dealing in methamphetamine—10 grams or more and one for one count of dealing in methamphetamine—10 grams or more, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, driving while suspended–knowing violation, and prior conviction within 10 years.
Hutcherson appeared in Greene Circuit Court on Aug. 28 for an initial hearing. For his first case, a bond of $150,000 surety with 10% cash allowed has been set, while in his second case, a bond of $50,000 surety with 10% allowed has been set.
