INDIANAPOLIS —The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) today announced that 408 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 3,437 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s total.

Suspect arrested after riding a train through Bloomfield

After a man was spotted riding on top of a train going through Bloomfield last week, the train was stopped and several officers took off down the tracks then through the woods to catch the suspect. He was arrested, but gave officers another man’s identification and was only correctly identified through his fingerprints.

A suspect accused of stealing sandwiches from a convenience store was arrested on Sunday after a Bloomfield officer found him face down and unresponsive in a street nearby. The sandwiches and a bottle of Tito’s were also found in the street.

Worthington Town Council to close meeting as safety precaution

The next monthly meeting of the Worthington Town Council will be closed to the public. This action is being taken as a safety precaution due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Council President Tom Franklin announced the regular monthly meeting will still be conducted at the regular time of 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14. Members of the council, the clerk-treasurer, the street department superintendent and the town marshal will attend and they will be adhering to social distancing guidelines. Members of the media will be able to attend but the meeting will be closed to the general public.

Brandon Criss and Devon Nichols charged with the murder of John Chapman

Brandon Criss, 34, and Devon Nichols, 17, both from Linton, appeared in Greene Superior Court this afternoon and have been charged with the March 17 murder of John P. Chapman. The case of Nichols, 16 at the time of the murder, has been automatically waived into adult court.
