Roy L. Terrell, Sr.

Roy L. Terrell, Sr., 79, of Jasonville, IN passed away at 11:17 P.M. Sunday, January 4, 2026 in Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.

He was born February 21, 1946 in Sullivan, IN to Roy M. “Froggy” Terrell and Dorothy L. (Followell) Terrell.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Nancy (Chubb) Terrell of Jasonville, IN who he married on October 23, 1964; children, Roy L.Terrell Jr. (Tammie) of Jasonville, IN, Angela L. Ridgeway (Todd) of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Tommy Terrell (Kindrah), Kasandra Ridgeway, Jordan Terrell (Madison), Todd Ridgeway Jr.; great-grandchildren, River, Kinzee, Lylah, Erisson, Winslee; brothers, Gary Terrell of Jasonville, IN, Terry Joe (Lori) Terrell of Terre Haute, IN; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Dwayne Terrell; brothers, Larry Terrell, Danny Terrell.

Roy graduated from Shakamak High School Class of 1964. He worked at RCA in Bloomington, IN, Midland Glass in Terre Haute, IN, Owens Brockway in Sullivan, IN and Casey’s General Store in Jasonville. Roy was a member of Jasonville Masonic Lodge# 530 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute and the NRA. Roy served on the Jasonville City Council for 8 years, served as Mayor of the City of Jasonville for 12 years, he served on the Jasonville Medical Clinic board and was a union member of AFL-CIO for many years and had previously served as President. Roy would lead the Jasonville Mayors Ride which he started when he was mayor. He was a member of Cloven Hoofs Motorcycle Club. Roy loved to ride motorcycles, he would make a New Years Eve ride through town every year for many years whether clear, rain or snow (HFFH).

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street; Jasonville, Indiana. Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday January 9, 2026 and 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Funeral Home. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor David Smith officiating.

Interment will be at K of P Cemetery in Hymera, IN.
