Two eastern Greene County residents are scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court on Feb. 24 on charges of neglect of a dependent and possession of marijuana following an early February investigation.

The Greene County Health Department, Bloomfield, Indiana, seeks to hire a full-time Public Health Nurse Assistant. The incumbent serves under the description of Licensed Practical Nurse and is responsible for assisting the Public Health Nurse with providing health care and education to patients, families, and the community. Incumbent reports directly to the Administrator. The position is funded by Health First Indiana (HFI) from the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH). Continuation of the position is contingent upon renewal of HFI funding.

The Greene County Health Department, Bloomfield, Indiana, seeks to hire a full-time Community Health Specialist (CHS). The incumbent serves as a Community Health Worker and School Liaison assisting with public health advocacy, awareness and educational activities. The CHS supports schools, providers and case managers through integrated care management and community outreach activities that promote, maintain, and improve health by providing social support and informal counseling, health education and disease prevention activities, and advocating for individual and community health needs. Additionally, CHS helps residents, and their families navigate and access community services and resources including Medicaid/ACA education and enrollment. Incumbent reports directly to the Health Administrator.

The Greene County Health Department, Bloomfield, Indiana, seeks to hire a full-time Public Health Clerk. Incumbent serves as a public health programs intake and registration clerk as well as being responsible for scheduling and front desk services of immunization, vital records, genealogy, environmental health and food/sanitation divisions. The incumbent manages the switchboard and opening/closing the department. The Public Health Clerk’s regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce annual dinner will take place Thursday, Jan. 30, with tickets available through Tuesday, Jan. 28.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department responded Tuesday afternoon to the scene of a single vehicle fatality on County Road 1500 West near County Road 700 West in Greene County. 

A 74-year-old Bloomfield woman is facing multiple alcohol-related charges after her Jan. 15 arrest.

Two ordinances approved at Monday night’s Linton City Council meeting will result in higher utility bills for residents starting in March.

Due to the death of former President Jimmy Carter, President Joe Biden has designated Jan. 9, the day of Carter’s funeral, as a National Day of Mourning.

The President of the Greene County Board of Commissioners has moved the Greene County Road Status to Level II or “watch”, according to a press release from the Greene County Emergency Management Agency.

The Greene County Courts will be closed on Monday, January 6 due to inclement weather; however the Greene County Courthouse will be open.
