Charles Criss has been in prison after he was convicted and sentenced years ago

Charles Elsworth Criss, Jr., 58, Lyons, also known as Chuck or Chucky, has been in prison. He was arrested for child molesting in 2014. In 2015, he was sentenced to eight years and won’t be released from DOC authority until next February, but he was out on parole when he was arrested last week for a parole violation. As of today, he’s in trouble for the violation but he is not facing any new criminal charges.

Gilmore found guilty of public nudity and indecency

Yesterday in Greene Superior Court, on his 58th birthday, a Bloomfield man was remanded to the custody of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department after a jury found him guilty of three counts of public nudity and two counts of public indecency. Terry J. Gilmore, a coach and businessman at the time of the incidents, was booked into the Greene County Jail at 2:05 p.m. He will be sentenced later this month.

Criminal charge filed against former LPD officer who was placed on administrative leave in May

A former police officer is facing a criminal charge of false informing as a result of an investigation by the Indiana State Police into allegations that he didn’t tell the truth about the events that led to the arrest of a Linton man in May. Following the incident, the officer was taken off the street and placed on administrative leave by LPD Chief Paul Clark. In addition to the ISP investigation, a special prosecutor was appointed and this week, he filed a criminal case against the officer, and the LPD Chief confirmed the officer is no longer employed by the Linton Police Department.

Greene County Prosecutor's Office closes to public to reduce health risk

Beginning Tuesday, December 8, 2020, the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office will close to the public, except by appointment scheduled in advance. The public may still call or email the office and should endeavor to conduct business with the office by email or by telephone if possible.

Office staff will be reduced and rotated, and work from home will be implemented, in order to reduce health risk to individual staff members and to the office as a whole.

Closure and operating on reduced in-office staff is the result of careful review and consideration of staff safety, in light of the dramatic increase in Greene County COVID-19 cases during the past several weeks.

The described operating schedule will remain in effect throughout the month of December and the early 2021 office schedule will be evaluated at the end of the year.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month. Domestic violence is a subject that is tough to deal with and combat even under normal circumstances. Unfortunately, in the challenging environment of 2020 and the COVID pandemic, domestic violence incidents have skyrocketed. With fewer opportunities to get out of the house, economic uncertainty and less ability for friends and family members to check in on loved ones, it is no surprise that we are seeing spikes in domestic violence incidents. According to the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, DV related fatalities have increased 86 percent compared to the same time period last year. Given everything else that Hoosiers have had to deal with in 2020, that is simply a devastating statistic.
