When a former Linton police officer, who resigned from his position in July after he was accused of false informing, appeared in Greene Superior Court this month, he admitted guilt and was sentenced.
A former police officer is facing a criminal charge of false informing as a result of an investigation by the Indiana State Police into allegations that he didn’t tell the truth about the events that led to the arrest of a Linton man in May. Following the incident, the officer was taken off the street and placed on administrative leave by LPD Chief Paul Clark. In addition to the ISP investigation, a special prosecutor was appointed and this week, he filed a criminal case against the officer, and the LPD Chief confirmed the officer is no longer employed by the Linton Police Department.
When an LPD officer responded to a Sunday night report of a man in black wearing a fedora and carrying a cane while blocking highway traffic and barking at people, a scuffle ensued and the suspect allegedly tried to get hold of the officer’s weapon while threatening to kill him. With assistance from a bystander, the suspect was handcuffed then jailed.
A Linton man who was arrested in February posted bond and was released but then he didn’t show up for court. This week he’s back in jail. He was taken into custody early today on five warrants out for his arrest.
A Linton man got into a tussle with a Linton police officer last weekend, was arrested and is now facing charges of battery plus possession of methamphetamine.
An inmate who’s been in the Greene County Jail since July has allegedly placed over a thousand phone calls from the jail in an attempt to contact a woman who doesn’t want to talk to him.
