On GreeneStreets: Signs of improvement

Finally, my outlook today is a little brighter. My strength is slowly returning, along with my appetite. I think I’ve turned a corner. Since this is my income for my retirement years, I’ve been upset and worried. A handful of subscribers cancelled, but most of you have stuck around and I can’t tell you how much this means to me. Thank you all. Not up to speed yet, but I can see the way forward.

On GreeneStreets: A Sunday morning update

My sincere apologies to all subscribers and readers, and to all those who follow my blog or the Facebook page just to read the headlines, for the lack of posts and news over the past week. It was unintentional and what happened was unexpected. I am so sorry.

When I got back home after the first trip via ambulance to the hospital, I had a cocktail of medications that I’d never taken before, on top of high anxiety. In the middle of the next night, my son called 911 for an ambulance and I was taken back to the hospital in Sullivan (my family doctor practices in Carlisle and Dugger) then transferred to Regional in Terre Haute. I’m back home now but this last go took a lot out of me – trying to recover.

Diagnosis is emphysema/COPD and doctors say I will likely be on oxygen from now on. My Grandpa Goodwin also had this and so did my mother. Neither one of them ever smoked a day in their life. Now, neither do I.

This has been a life-altering event and I’ve not been in charge. I was comfortable with my posting schedule but it’s been blown to bits. I’m clearly on God’s timing.

I would like to promise that everything will be caught up and back up to date by a certain day but that wouldn’t be wise. Just know I’m working on my recovery and the recovery of my news site, something I love doing.

Help is on the way I hope, but not overnight. My daughter, who grew up with the Times, is wanting to move her little family back home to Worthington. They are looking for a place and now we’re trying to hurry up the process. She wants to work with me on the Times again and I am thrilled. This would be a blessing to me and to the Times. Not to mention having grandchildren here in town!

To those few upset subscribers who cancelled their sub, I hope someday you’ll want to return. And to so many who posted a comment on Facebook or sent a message of support and encouragement, and especially those who offered a prayer, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

On GreeneStreets: An update

My mother (Anna Rochelle) has been released from the hospital, with an unexpected and life-changing diagnosis. She is settling in at home and needs a little time to rest and readjust to life on oxygen and lifestyle changes. There were plans to put back-up writers in place but this happened first. She is anxious to get back to writing and we’re sorry for the delay but we’ve got some prep work to do here to get her set up to get back to doing what she loves to do asap. -Kermit Rochelle
