Convicted meth dealer sentenced to 20 years in prison

On Thursday afternoon, Edward Dean Long, 42, of Jasonville, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. In early June, a jury found him guilty of dealing methamphetamine, with a gun in his possession. No part of the sentence, handed down by Judge Erik Allen in Greene Circuit Court, was suspended. Long will be eligible for good time credit but since his crime is a Level 2 felony, he must serve at least 75 percent of the time – that’s 15 years.

When a woman called 911 saying she had gotten out of a truck and took off running because the driver had choked her, slammed her into the dashboard and threatened to kill her, and that she was hiding in some bushes, it was around 12:24 a.m. and she was out in the country, in eastern Greene County. Three minutes later, a Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived in the area, hit the flashing emergency lights and then saw her emerge from bushes behind a house.
