A routine traffic stop on June 18 has resulted in a summons to appear in court on charges of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia for a Sullivan man.

A summons to appear in Greene Superior Court on Sept. 19 was issued on Aug. 1 for Christopher Gordon. At that time, Gordon will be charged with: possession of marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor.

Linton Police Department Officer Alan Jackson initiated a traffic stop on a black Dodge Ram driven by Gordon. When gathering documents from the driver, Officer Jackson noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Gordon admitted he had smoked in the vehicle earlier in the day. He informed Jackson he would find marijuana in the center console ashtray.

While searching the vehicle, Jackson found a clear plastic bag containing a green plant-like material with an odor of marijuana. A smoking device with an odor of marijuana was also located in the vehicle. A green and silver metal smoking device was also located during the search. Gordon admitted all of the items found belonged to him.

After searching the vehicle, it was determined Gordon’s vehicle did not have insurance; therefore, Jackson had Gordon park the vehicle in a friend's driveway located close to the site of the traffic stop.

Gordon was made aware that charges of possession of marijuana and paraphernalia would be sent to the prosecutor’s office.
