Update: Greene County Sheriff George Dallaire has released a statement confirming two deceased persons have been found; however, no other information is available at this time. Whether or not this new information is linked to the disapperance of Lyons woman Samantha Jerrell and her son, Colton, has not been determined at this time. Police are investigating the disappearance of a Lyons woman and her son, who have been missing since Oct. 13.  Samantha Jerrell and her son, Colton, were reportedly headed to French Lick but never arrived. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation but has not released an official statement at this time; however, police presence related to the investigation has been reported near Bear Run Mine in Sullivan County.

Early voting opened Oct. 8 in Greene County with opportunities to cast an early vote until Nov. 4 for the Nov. 5 General Election.

According to a news release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, rape and child molesting charges have been filed against a 43-year-old man following a Sept. 23 report of a missing juvenile.  

A 41-year-old Linton man is facing seven Level 1 Felony charges of child molesting and six Level 4 child molesting—fondling charges following a Sept. 21 arrest. 

A Bloomfield man reported missing on Sept. 21 has been located, according to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. Jeffrey L. Richards was reported missing Sept. 21. A press release from the Sheriff’s Department Sept. 22 stated Richards has been located.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Sept. 21 is investigating a missing person case.  Jeffrey L. Richards, II, 41, was reported missing from Bloomfield. He is 5’11” and 190 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.  Anyone with information regarding Richards is encouraged to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Department at 812-384-4411.

A Worthington man—required to register as a lifetime sex offender due to prior convictions in Florida—found himself behind bars on Sept. 18 in Greene County on three Level 5 felony counts of possession of child pornography with an aggravating factor. 

A 57-year-old Linton woman attempting to swat a waspfrom her car was transported to Greene County General Hospital following a two-vehicle accident in the morning hours of Sept. 5 on County Road 50 North near Linton.
