Swatting a wasp causes Linton woman to cross center line, collide with oncoming vehicle
/A 57-year-old Linton woman attempting to swat a waspfrom her car was transported to Greene County General Hospital following a two-vehicle accident in the morning hours of Sept. 5 on County Road 50 North near Linton.
According to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, a 2012 smart car driven by Catherine Wright, 59, Linton, was traveling east on County Road 50 North at 7:13 a.m. when she noticed a wasp in her vehicle. Due to an ongoing medical condition, per the release, Wright was attempting to swat the wasp from her car and went left of center and into the other lane. Wright struck a 2009 Jeep Patriot driven by 18-year-old Amasa Kohlman, of Linton. Kohlman attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
Wright, according to the release, was taken to Greene County General Hospital for minor injuries.
Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Harvey Holt is investigating the accident. He was assisted at the scene by Linton Fire Department and Greene County Ambulance Service.
