An inmate in the Greene County Jail was recently taken to Greene County General Hospital to get stitches to close a laceration caused by another man, serving time for battery and intimidation, who allegedly threw butter at the inmate then hit him in the face.

There’s a warrant out for the arrest of a Linton man who was arrested then bonded out of jail but didn’t show up in court. He’s accused of threatening a police officer during a tense situation, going so far as to clench his fists while dancing around in a boxing stance, yelling he was going to beat the officer.

She’s already been convicted of theft and is on probation. He just landed in the Greene County Jail and is facing a felony theft charge.

Driver gets away from one officer but then five officers showed up at his door

When the driver of a pickup truck headed out of Bloomfield tried to avoid a traffic stop by fleeing, a chase ensued, one officer with lights and sirens following him through the countryside down one road then another and another. The driver got away but it didn’t end well for him – five officers showed up at his house later that night. On his way to jail, he said he thought the patrol vehicle would have been faster than what it was.

Linton meth dealer, busted by Greene County Drug Task Force, sentenced to 16 years in prison

A Linton man caught in an LPD, JPD and Greene County Drug Task Force sting operation back in 2011 went to prison for dealing meth, served his time and was released. This year he was back in jail following an investigation by the Task Force, accused of dealing meth, again. He was convicted in Greene Superior Court this week and Judge Dena Martin sentenced him to 16 years in prison.

Second arrest: Linton man accused of threatening a child with a gun then ignoring order to drop his weapons

Two days after a Linton man was arrested for threatening behavior toward an ex-wife and also a police officer while armed with a gun, he was arrested again, this time accused of threatening a child while holding a gun, then getting into a tense situation in close quarters with an officer who had drawn his sidearm. The man ignored repeated orders to drop his weapons including a semiautomatic firearm and a crossbow.

It’s likely that a 72-year-old Lyons man was trying to help his son by giving him rides last spring. But when the Greene County Drug Task Force swooped in to bust the son, accusing him of getting rides to Indy to buy meth to sell in Greene County, the father wound up in jail too. On Tuesday, he accepted responsibility, admitted his role and was sentenced to home detention.

Saturday night stand-off and crisis negotiation south of Scotland ends without injury

A stand-off ensued when Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy David Elmore responded to a house south of Scotland on Saturday afternoon because a man had shot a gun at or near another man who was unarmed with his back turned. Additional officers from at least two sheriff’s and one police department responded to assist and after a long night of crisis negotiation, the suspect surrendered.
