UPDATE: Presidential Proclamation on Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week 2021 revised

UPDATE: President Biden's initial Peace Officers Memorial Day proclamation indicated the flag should be flown at half-staff on Saturday, May 15, 2021. That is the normal protocol for most years in accordance to “4 U.S. Flag Code § 7”. However, there is an exception to that protocol that reads, “unless that day is also Armed Forces Day.” This year May 15 is also Armed Forces Day and according to U.S. Flag Code, the flag should be flown at full-staff. President Biden has updated his proclamation………. Every day, we ask a great deal of the men and women of our Nation’s law enforcement agencies; from ensuring public safety, to serving as front-line workers, to responding to incidents involving domestic violence, substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and homelessness, often with limited resources. Every morning, our Nation’s law enforcement officers pin on a badge and go to work, not knowing what the day will bring, and hoping to come home safely.
