COVID-19 Stats: Greene County data shows 11 new cases this week

When the Indiana Department of Health announced the updated statewide COVID-19 stats on Friday, July 31, the data showed Greene County with a total of 233 confirmed cases and 34 deaths reported to the state, with a total of 3,229 tested. Since last Sunday, these numbers indicate Greene County has had an increase of 11 confirmed cases and an additional 237 tested so far this week, since data was released on Sunday. The number of deaths has remained steady at 34 since Sunday.

Greene County Health Department issues an alert and an update

The Greene County Health Department has issued an alert regarding a restaurant that has closed due to COVID-19, and issued an update to the recent alert for residents of Bloomfield and Solsberry areas:

The Grill located at 60 A St. NE, Linton, IN, has learned of an exposure to COVID-19. As a result of this exposure, the Greene County Health Department recommends customers who dined at this establishment between Wednesday, July 22 through Friday, July 24 get tested for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

A free COVID-19 testing site is located at the Fairplay-Grant Fire Department, 206 Charlotte, Switz City, IN. The test site is open to individuals with or without COVID-19 symptoms starting at age one year and older. Register in advance at https://lhi.care/covidtesting or by calling 1-888-634-1116. Walk-ins are welcome.

The Grill is voluntarily closed and will reopen August 14, 2020 after cleaning and disinfecting.

Bloomfield and Solsberry resident adviser update:

The number of COVID-19 cases in Greene County increased by 16 during the week of Monday, July 20 through Sunday, July 26; however, the number of Bloomfield cases reported decreased. Solsberry residents are urged to continue proceeding with diligence and are cautioned to adhere to the following recommendations:

  1. Seniors and individuals of any age with serious chronic medical conditions, who are at increased risk for severe disease should avoid nonessential travel.

  2. All should avoid contact with sick individuals and wash their hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  3. All should avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; and, all shall wear a mask in public.

  4. If you are sick, stay at home. Work with family and friends to have food, hygiene and medical supplies delivered until you are well.

If all residents of Greene County adhere to the actions above, we can effectively reduce the spread of the virus. The Greene County Health Department will continue to issue area alerts and will notify the public when the spread has been successfully reduced in your local area.

Bloomfield, Ind. - The following advisory is issued to Bloomfield and Solsberry area residents:

The Greene County Health Department has surveilled an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks specific to the Bloomfield and Solsberry areas (78 percent of the cases reported in the last two weeks). Due to the uptick in cases, residents of these communities are urged to proceed with diligence and are cautioned to adhere to the following recommendations.
