Two people were arrested Wednesday following a Linton Police Department drug investigation that investigators say involved the delivery of more than 100 grams of methamphetamine.

Adam Tyler Weed, 34, of Freedom, was arrested at 7:05 p.m., and Connie Mae Weddle, 62, of Coal City, was arrested at 9:16 p.m. Both face preliminary charges of Level 2 felony dealing in methamphetamine.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the Linton Police Department had been conducting an ongoing narcotics investigation throughout June using a confidential source.

Investigators reported reviewing text messages on the confidential source's phone that they believed were consistent with methamphetamine transactions involving Weed. With the source's permission, officers continued the conversation and arranged the purchase of methamphetamine from Weed.

Court documents state the confidential source told investigators Weed regularly supplied methamphetamine and typically sold quantities of one-quarter pound, or approximately four ounces, at a time. The source also identified a residence in Patricksburg where Weed allegedly obtained his supply.

According to the affidavit, conversations between investigators and Weed continued from June 30 into July 1, during which Weed allegedly agreed to deliver four ounces of methamphetamine to a predetermined location in Linton for $275 per ounce. Police said Weed referenced that quantity as the amount typically purchased during previous transactions.

When Weed arrived at the meeting location in a gray 2010 Kia Sportage driven by Connie Weddle, officers moved in and took both occupants into custody.

After being advised of his rights, Weed agreed to speak with investigators. According to the affidavit, he told officers there would be approximately four ounces of methamphetamine and his cell phone inside the vehicle.

Police later obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and recovered approximately 114 grams of a white crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine from the passenger-side floorboard. Officers also found a glass pipe containing suspected drug residue.

Investigators also recovered $1,196 in cash from Weddle's purse.

According to the affidavit, Weed told investigators he had obtained the methamphetamine from Weddle at her residence prior to the planned delivery.

Based on that information, officers obtained a second search warrant for Weddle's residence in Coal City. During the search, investigators reportedly located gallon-sized bags containing suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale with suspected methamphetamine residue, and numerous small plastic baggies commonly associated with drug distribution.

Police allege the evidence indicates Weddle supplied the methamphetamine to Weed and transported him to the arranged drug transaction.
