Linton man arrested for possession of meth, paraphernalia

A man staying at a Linton residence targeted in a drug investigation has been charged after officers allegedly found drug paraphernalia containing methamphetamine residue during the execution of a search warrant.

Herbert Piker was arrested June 30 following the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the 1100 block of E Street SE in Linton.

Piker faces preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the Linton Police Department executed the search warrant as part of an investigation into the alleged dealing of methamphetamine at the residence.

When officers entered the home, they found Piker along with three other individuals — including a child — inside.

Court documents state Piker told officers he had been staying in the living room of the residence. During a search of that area, officers reportedly located a black trash bag containing drug paraphernalia with residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. Investigators also found Piker’s mail inside the same bag.

According to the affidavit, Piker acknowledged the bag belonged to him.

The search also resulted in the discovery of approximately one ounce of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, digital scales, packaging materials, and a .22-caliber rifle elsewhere in the residence. Those items are alleged to have been connected to others who were arrested as part of the investigation.

He was arrested June 30 and transported to Greene County Jail. He is being held without bond.
