A Solsberry man who was stopped near Solsberry last spring was released from the scene but his vehicle was towed. After drugs were allegedly found in the vehicle, a warrant was issued for his arrest and it’s been outstanding until last Sunday.

David Lee Miller, 52, Solsberry, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department last Sunday night, August 9. He was booked into the Greene County Jail around 8:14 p.m.

Miller was arrested on a warrant that was issued in mid-March following an incident that occurred on Sunday, March 8. The warrant has been outstanding until he was taken into custody this past Sunday.

On Sunday, March 8, Miller was the driver of a red pickup truck in Solsberry when Deputy Elmore was in the area of the Yoho Store at North State Road 43 and North Washington Street. When the pickup got to the four-way stop, Deputy Elmore noticed a headlight was out. The truck turned onto East Tulip Road then onto Newark Road and a traffic stop was initiated on North Yoho Road.

When dispatch ran a check on the license plate, dispatch said it belonged to a different truck. Miller said he had borrowed the truck from his boss, didn’t know the headlight was out and he couldn’t locate the registration. Miller did provide his driver’s license but the deputy said it was suspended.

Miller was cooperative but he got a citation for driving while suspended, a written warning for the headlight and the truck was going to be towed for a fictitious plate, no valid registration and no proof of insurance. He was released from the scene, made a phone call and a family member picked him up along with a passenger.

When the truck was inventoried, Deputy Elmore reported finding pills that were identified as a controlled substance and a baggie with a residue that field-tested positive as methamphetamine.

A criminal case was then filed and the warrant issued.

When Miller appeared in Greene Superior Court yesterday, August 11, he was formally charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, and possession of a controlled substance, a Level 6 felony.

Miller’s bond was set at $5,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. He has since posted $500 and been released.
