Lyons man accused of battery
/A man has been summoned into court after a woman said he punched her in the face during an altercation when she was hanging out with friends on the White River near Worthington late last May.
Jeffery A. Hutcherson, 34, of Lyons or Linton, is scheduled to appear in Greene Superior Court for an initial hearing at 8:30 in the morning, Thursday, August 12. A summons was issued in early July.
Hutcherson is facing a preliminary charge of battery resulting in bodily injury, a Class A misdemeanor, as a result of an investigation by Deputy Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department into an incident that occurred in late May.
On Tuesday, May 26, a woman contacted law enforcement to report that she had been battered. She said she and a couple of female friends were hanging out that day on the White River near Worthington when one of the friends got into a “lover’s quarrel” with a boyfriend, Jeffery Hutcherson.
According to the woman, Hutcherson was shoving her friend around and the woman stepped in and told Hutcherson not to hit her friend. Hutcherson allegedly then struck the woman in the face and knocked her to the ground.
The woman admitted that when she got back up, she hit Hutcherson as hard as she could, busting his eyebrow and causing him to bleed. He allegedly then threatened her with a fishing bow.
Sgt. Pierce reported the woman had redness, bruising and swelling to her face, a red scratch on the back of her neck, a bruise on her right arm, bruising to her right leg and an abrasion to the top of her hand and wrist.
Sgt. Pierce said he tried to contact Hutcherson at his residence in Linton but was unable to make contact.
According to Sgt. Pierce’s report, Hutcherson’s residence was in Linton, but court records show Hutcherson with a home address in Lyons.
