Remains found in May determined to be no threat to public

Human remains found in a field off of Sparks Road in Solsberry on May 1 have been determined to be no threat to the general public.

On July 25, the Greene County Sheriff's Department received confirmation from the Indiana State Police Labortatory regarding the identity of the remains. According to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff's Department, the remains belonged to a person reported missing to the Bloomington Police Department in October 2022. The initial cause of death is suspect as suicide.

Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Shawn Cullison was the investigating officer on the case and was assisted by the Indiana State Police, Vigo County Search and Rescue's Cadaver dogs, Jasonville Police Department, and Greene County Coroner's Office.
