One arrested after scuffle between two women

A scuffle during a smoke break at a local treatment center resulted in the arrest of one woman for misdemeanor battery.

Leann Nicole Parsons, 29, Indianapolis, was arrested by Officer Cayden Walker of the Linton Police Department on Sunday night, April 17.

That Sunday night around 8:52 PM, the LPD got a call from the Hickory Treatment Center in Linton about a fight between two women. Officer Walker, the investigating officer, responded along with LPD Lt. Bobby Pierce and Officer Wayman JR Blazier.

Officer Walker and Lt. Pierce then interviewed one of the women who had been involved in the fight who said while all the women that smoke were getting their last cigarette break of the night, she and Parsons ran into each other and bumped shoulders. She told the officers that Parsons then turned around and hit her in the arm. She said there had not been any prior problems between the two women.

When Officer Walker and Lt. Pierce interviewed Parsons, she told them when they were walking outside for the cigarette break, the other woman hit her in the chest area with her shoulder. She said she tried to get the other woman to apologize but when she did not, she punched the other woman in the arm.

Parsons was taken into custody and transported to the Greene County Jail where she was booked in at 9:33 PM. Her bond was set at $1000 surety with 10% cash allowed. As of late Monday, April 25, she had not yet posted bond and was still in jail.

During her initial hearing in Greene Superior Court last week, Parsons was charged with battery, a Class B misdemeanor.
