Man arrested for resisting law enforcement held without bond in another pending case
/A Terre Haute man, formerly from Linton, was arrested earlier this month for resisting law enforcement when officers tried to serve a warrant on him. So he's facing a misdemeanor charge of resisting and now he's being held without bond in another pending case involving felony intimidation.
Bryce Edward Benefiel, 42, Terre Haute, was arrested by Officer Alan Jackson of the Linton Police Department on Monday April 4.
On that day, LPD Det. Logan Hobbs had information that Benefiel, who had an active warrant out for his arrest, might be at a residence on 5th St NW in Linton so around 6 PM, Officer Jackson, along with Sgt. Bobby Pierce and Det. Hobbs, went to the residence. They saw someone sitting in the driver’s seat of a green Toyota Tacoma in the driveway and when Officer Jackson walked up to the driver's window, Benefiel was sitting in the driver’s seat.
Officer Jackson knocked on the window and motioned for Benefiel to get out of the vehicle. Benefiel rolled his window down part-way and said he was just sitting in a buddy's driveway. He refused to get out even after being told he had a warrant out for his arrest. Benefiel was pulled out from the vehicle and continued to resist then ended up on the ground and was taken into custody.
Benefiel was booked into the Greene County Jail around 6:52 PM with bond set at $1000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He posted $100 and was released.
But on April 22 in another case still pending against Benefiel for felony intimidation and misdemeanor domestic battery, the state filed a petition to revoke his bond for an alleged violation of a condition of bond release and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Monday, April 25, Benefiel was arrested again, by Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Sgt. Jordan Allor.
Benefiel is now being held without bond.
