A Lyons woman has been charged with a felony and numerous misdemeanors for allegedly driving under the influence of meth and other substances.
Brittney Jean Daymude
When Brittney Jean Daymude, 37, of Lyons, appeared in Greene Superior Court last week for an initial hearing via two-way video between the courtroom and the Greene County Jail, she was formally charged with:
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,
Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor,
Resisting law enforcement – knowingly or intentionally forcibly resists, a Class A misdemeanor,
Possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony,
Possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, and
Possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
Daymude was arrested early Friday, May 8, by Sgt. Bobby Pierce of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Pierce conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2003 Chrysler Town and Country at the intersection of County Roads 400 South and 900 West for driving left of center. Daymude was the driver. GCSD Deputy Jordan Allor assisted on the stop.
There was an arrest warrant out for Daymude, issued out of Knox County and she told Sgt. Pierce she knew she had the warrant but they didn’t want her at this time due to COVID-19. Daymude was told to exit her vehicle but she did not cooperate. She was removed from the vehicle but tried to pull away multiple times. She later apologized.
Daymude was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and paraphernalia either in a pocket or in the vehicle. She also had pills in a pocket she said were Xanax but said she had a prescription for them.
Sgt. Pierce reported Daymude exhibited signs of a person under the influence of methamphetamine, including excessive talking and rambling and fidgety, rapid movements.
Daymude allegedly admitted to taking Xanax, Lortab, smoking marijuana and using meth either the same day or the day before. She said the Xanax and Lortab are prescribed and she takes those daily.
Daymude was transported to Greene County General Hospital for a blood draw – results are pending.
She was booked into the Greene County Jail around 3:37 a.m.
During her initial hearing, her bond was set at $8,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $800 and has been released.
