Ashley Dawn Wilson, 24, Bloomfield, was arrested by Deputy Jordan Allor of the Greene County Sheriff’s Department late last Saturday, January 2.

Deputy Allor was sitting at the intersection of State Road 54 and J.L. Wilson Road east of Bloomfield last Saturday night, January 2. Around 10:39 p.m., he saw a white 2014 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on the highway at a high rate of speed. Radar showed the SUV was going 70 mph in a 50 mph zone.

When the deputy turned his headlights on, the SUV hit the brakes hard and turned north onto North Warren Road then sped up. The deputy followed and when he activated the red and blue lights to initiate a traffic stop, the SUV continued on at a high rate of speed. Deputy Allor said the SUV lost control after crossing a bridge, swerved and almost ran off the road before correcting and continuing.

Deputy Allor notified dispatch that he was trying to stop a vehicle that was not pulling over and other deputies were dispatched to the area.

Deputy Allor activated his siren and after continuing northbound on Warren Road without stopping for about a mile, the SUV pulled into a driveway and stopped. The driver was asked to exit the vehicle and as she walked back toward the patrol vehicle, she had a hard time keeping her balance.

Ashley Wilson was the driver who allegedly said she didn’t realize she was going too fast and that she didn’t stop right away because she didn’t notice the deputy was behind her.

According to Deputy Allor, Wilson showed signs of impairment including slurred speech. When asked why she turned on that road, she allegedly said because she lives on that road. When asked the name of the road, she didn’t know but said she’d only moved there a week earlier.

Wilson allegedly failed field sobriety testing on the scene and was transported to the sheriff’s department where she failed the tests again. The results from a certified breath test showed she had a blood alcohol concentration of .114. The legal limit is .08.

Deputy Allor reported Wilson admitted she had been drinking that night – about four or five shots of whiskey.

At 11:41 p.m., Wilson was booked into the Greene County Jail where her bond was set at $4,000 surety with ten percent cash allowed. She posted $400 and was released on January 3.

Wilson is facing preliminary charges of:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor,

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and

  • Operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalent to at least .08 but less than .15, a Class C misdemeanor.

A date for her initial hearing is not yet known.

There were two passengers in the vehicle with Wilson. After other deputies arrived to assist, while Deputy Allor was conducting the business of the traffic stop, another deputy talked to the passengers and one of them was found to be in violation of a protective order and was also taken to jail. Information on that arrest was covered in a story on GreeneStreets yesterday.
