Kenneth Lee Martindale

Kenneth Lee Martindale, 82, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 1:30 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family at Glenburn Home in Linton. Born on July 24, 1943, at his grandmother's home in Solsberry, Kenneth was the son of Dale and Wilma (Cox) Martindale.

From an early age, he showed the steady determination and strong sense of duty that would define his life. A 1961 graduate of Bloomington High School, Kenneth married his high school sweetheart, Genevieve "Ginny" Elizabeth Barger, on August 25, 1961- a partnership that grew into a remarkable 64-year marriage rooted in love, laughter, and faith.

Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964 and again beginning in 1969. Service, to both his nation and community, became a central thread in his life. After his time in the military, he devoted years to protecting others as a Bloomington City Police Officer and later as a Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy. His quiet courage and fairness left a lasting mark on those he served alongside.

In later years, Kenneth and Ginny headed south to Florida, where he built a new chapter - running a sign shop, driving trucks, and enjoying the sunshine. Kenneth had a love of open roads, whether behind the wheel or on his motorcycle. One of his favorite memories was a cross-country motorcycle trip through the Smoky Mountains to New York with his friends - a story he loved to share, always with a twinkle in his eye. Kenneth never missed a good Western or a round of golf. In his younger days, the golf course was his happy place, but later, he was just as content cheering on others from his living room recliner. Kenneth's faith anchored him throughout his life. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Vicksburg and attended various churches during his years in Florida, where he and Ginny built lifelong friendships within each congregation.

He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Ginny; their children Angie Davis, Tony (Shannon) Martindale, and Ricky Lee Martindale; six grandchildren, Alicia, Kristin, Blake, Tori, Dallas, and Trevor; his brother, Charles "Chuck" Martindale; and brother-in-law, Ralph Kermit Barger.

He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Dale and Wilma; his brother, Jeffrey; his son-in-law, Leo Davis; and daughters-in-law, Jody, Denise, and Stacy Martindale.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton, in care of Walton Funeral Service.
