B. Jack Shelton

B. Jack Shelton, 90, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Glenburn Home in Linton. He was born on September 16, 1935, in Linton, Indiana, to John Everett and Jessie ‘Grace’ (Tincher) Shelton. On February 23, 1958, Jack married Sonna L. (Kendall) Shelton.

Jack was a renowned musician who played the trumpet and was inducted into the Wabash Valley Musicians Hall of Fame in 2020. He owned and operated Shelton’s Hack and Slash Barber Shop in downtown Linton, truly enjoying cigars and the clientele shop talk. Jack served the City of Linton as Clerk Treasurer for many years. He was an active member of the Linton Masonic Lodge #560 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Greene Co. Shrine Club and Zorah Shrine. Jack loved Jesus and his family dearly. He was a faithful member of the Linton Church of Christ where he served as deacon and song leader.

Family left to cherish memories of Jack include: his wife, Sonna Shelton; children, Kelly Gordon of Dugger; Todd (Debbie) Shelton of Summerville, SC; Lori (Mike) Misner of Linton; and Dane Shelton of Linton; 8 grandchildren: Jason Mowery, Nathan Mowery, Brooke Perigo, Brittney Albright, Jared Shelton, Caleb Shelton, Jessica Laughlin, and Devin Shelton; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, David Gordon.

Funeral services to honor Jack’s life will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Pat Kelly officiating. Jack will be laid to rest in the Linton Fairview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with a Masonic Lodge Memorial Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation continues on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
