New entries on the morning Jail Log at the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, April 11, 2024:

April 10, 6:12 PM, David Eugene Fields, 53, Spencer, was arrested on preliminary charges of identity deception and failure to return to lawful detention. On the identity deception charge, his bond was set at $4,000 surety with 10% cash allowed, while on the failure to return to lawful detention charge, no bond was allowed. Greene County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Caleb Sipes was the arresting officer.

Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Individuals are booked into jail on warrants issued by courts or on “preliminary charges” based on recommendations of investigating or arresting officers. Charges may change when a new case is filed in court by the prosecutor who reviews the case and makes the charging decision.
