A Bloomington woman was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated after allegedly striking a concrete property marker, driving down an officer's driveway, and stopping next to a fully marked Greene County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle.

A 25-year-old Coalmont man appeared in court Dec. 12 on two charges of neglect of a dependant stemming from an incident that occurred in November.

The Bloomfield Police Department has offered some safety tips for those who are utilizing online shopping this holiday season. 

Drinking water and water for flushing toilets is available for residents of Jasonville and Coalmont following a fire at Jasonville’s water treatment plant on the evening of Sunday, Dec. 8. 

A declaration of a local disaster emergency has been declared in regard to recent destruction at Jasonville’s Water Department filtration plant, according to an executive order signed by Greene County Commissioners President Nathan Abrams.

The City of Jasonville is gearing up for the Christmas season with the sixth annual Home for the Holidays event this weekend. 

UPDATE: Rickie Allen Smith has been located safely. The Greene County Sheriff’s Department is seeking assistance in locating a male, last seen Dec. 3 at Pleasantview Mennonite Church in Montgomery.  The last known location for Rickie Allen Smith, 68, was at approximately 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  the church where he was referring a basketball game. According to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, Smith did not return home after the game. Smith is approximately 6’2” and weighs 200 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last known to be wearing a referee uniform—black and white striped shirt, black pants, and black shoes. He drives a 2016 four door black Ford F150. His location or destination is unknown. According to the press release, he is believed to be in danger and may need medical attention. If located, please contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Department. A 34-year-old Worthington man was arrested Nov. 25 after allegedly battering and confining a family member. 

A Linton man, who is currently resigtered as a sex offender from a case stemming back to 2019, appeared in Greene Circuit Court Nov. 25 on new charges of child exploitation and possession of child pornography—both with aggravating factors. 

A 43-year-old Linton man is scheduled to appear in Greene County Superior Court on Nov. 21 for an initial hearing on operating a vehicle while intoxicated charges.
