Linton man arrested on charges of drinking and driving

A 43-year-old Linton man is scheduled to appear in Greene County Superior Court on Nov. 21 for an initial hearing on operating a vehicle while intoxicated charges.

Kevin David Hancock was arrested Nov. 10 by Linton Police Department Officer Davis Aerne on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with an alcohol concentration equivalent to .15 or more. 

When Aerne responded to the scene of an accident located at West State Road 54 and Fifth Street Northwest, he was notified by another officer that Hancock, the driver, was impaired. According to the probable cause affidavit, Aerne wrote that Hancock’s breath was emitting an odor of alcohol. When asked how many beers he had consumed, Hancock alleged “a couple”. 

Hancock submitted to, and according to the probable cause affidavit, failed a Standardized Field Sobriety test at the scene. He was then transported to the Linton Police Department for a blood alcohol concentration breath test. His breath test produced a result of .209. 

He was transported to the Greene County Jail where his bond was set at $4,000 surety with 10% cash allowed. He was released after posting $400. 

His initial hearing in Greene Superior Court is scheduled for Nov. 21.
